General Yakubu Gowon is not dead
The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) erroneously reported that ex-Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, was dead
This death announcement,was meant to be for Martha Kande Audu, the first northern female voice on Radio/TV Kaduna and sister to General Gowon. She was said to have died at 79.
NTA had some reports scrolling during a live show on television where the demise of the former Nigerian leader was announced.
The highlighted part on the screen shows the caption which caused panic among Nigerians.

Some Nigerians immediately reacted to the reports, stating categorically that the ex-president’s death report has sent chills down people’s spine.
