Nollywood award-winning make-up artist, Hakeem Onilogbo, popularly known as Hakeem Effect, has opened up on the challenges of having children before opting for surrogacy.

Naija News reports that Hakeem, in an interview with his colleague, Biola Adebayo, on the YouTube podcast ‘Talk to B’, recalled the accusation levelled against him following his wife’s inability to conceive.

He said that people will always remind him about his wife’s struggle with infertility, and at some point, accused him of using his wife’s womb for fame because his life changed for the better after their marriage.

Hakeem said they opted for surrogacy due to the constant bullying and pressure, but God came through for them when their surrogate mother was six months pregnant.

He said, “Tell your boss’s wife to go and conceive. A woman’s pride in marriage is her children, not following him around. It got to a stage people used to call her Akeem’s mother and a lot of people started saying I have used her womb because immediately she came into my life, everything changed.
So, we had to go for surrogacy. By the time our surrogate was six months pregnant, my wife was already pregnant”.
