Super Eagles’ Paul Onuachu Leaves Southampton For Trabzonspor

Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Paul Onuachu has completed his move to Turkish Super Lig side, Trabzonspor.
Recall that Paul Onuachu spent the 2023-2024 season at Trabzonspor on loan from the Premier League club, Southampton. During his loan spell at the club, the 31-year-old Nigerian international scored 17 goals in 25 games.
Despite his fine form at the Turkish side, he could not establish himself at Southampton as he scored just four goals in 25 Premier League games during the 2024-2025 season. His contribution couldn’t stop the club from being relegated.
Following the relegation of Southampton, Trabzonspor returned to push for Paul Onuachu’s signature. This time around, they wanted the striker on a permanent deal.
Initially, the negotiations stalled because of what the Turkish side described as unrealistic demands and expectations. But on Wednesday, July 2, Southampton confirmed that the Nigerian has completed the move.
Naija News gathered that Onuachu has put pen to paper for a three-year deal, which means that he is expected to stay at Trabzonspor until 2028.
In a video Trabzonspor shared on đ showing when Onuachu was on board a plane heading to Turkey to finalise the deal, the striker was heard expressing how excited he was over the move.
âHello Trabzonspor fans. Iâm on my way to join you guys. I hope to see you all at the airport. Bize Her Yer Trabzon”, he said.
He touched down in Turkey on Wednesday and has officially become a player of the Turkish side.
Onuachu is the second major deal Trabzonspor has completed so far this summer. He arrives at the club after the signing of Joaquin Pina. They are also on the verge of signing Jean-Charles Castelletto.
