Arne Slot Reveals Last Conversation He Had With Diogo Jota

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, said the last time he spoke with his late player, Diogo Jota, was after he helped Portugal to win the 2025 UEFA Nations League on June 8.
Naija News reports that Diogo Jota and his brother, Andrea Silva, died in a ghastly car accident in Spain while travelling to a jetty to catch a ferry heading to the United Kingdom on Thursday, July 3.
Diogo Jota’s demise came about ten days after his wedding to his longtime lover, Rute Cardoso, who is the mother of his three children.
“The last time we spoke, I congratulated Diogo [Jota] on winning the Nations League and I wished him luck for his forthcoming wedding,” Arne Slot told the Liverpool website.
“In many ways, it was a dream summer for Diogo Jota and his family, which makes it all the more heartbreaking that it should end like this.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea coach, Enzo Maresca said Diogo Jota’s national teammate, Pedro Neto, has a choice to choose whether to play for the Premier League side during their Club World Cup tie against Palmeiras on Saturday.
The coach said Neto, who played alongside Jota during the just-concluded UEFA Nations League, is very sad over the sudden demise of the Portuguese striker.
“Pedro [Neto] is very sad, probably more than sad. We are close to supporting him in this moment,” Maresca told reporters on Friday.
“It’s completely Pedro’s decision [if he wants to play vs Palmeiras]. I had a chat this morning. We support any decision he takes.”
