Price Of Bag Of Rice, Beans, Tomatoes, Other Food Commodities This Week

Nigerians are beginning to feel some relief at the markets as the prices of staple food items such as rice, beans, tomatoes, and other household essentials have seen a notable drop in recent weeks.
This development follows months of skyrocketing food prices, which have left many households struggling to afford basic meals.
Rice Price Drops From ₦80,000 To ₦58,000
One of the most remarkable changes is in the price of rice, a staple in nearly every Nigerian home. The cost of a 50kg bag has dropped significantly, from as high as ₦80,000 to around ₦58,000 in several parts of the country.
Traders attribute the decline to a combination of improved supply from local mills, the ongoing harvest season, and stabilising transportation costs.
Beans Prices Ease After Reaching Record Highs
Beans, which had spiked alarmingly in 2024, selling for as high as ₦240,000 per 100kg bag, have also witnessed a decline. The current price now ranges from ₦80,000 to ₦120,000, depending on the variety and region.
Tomato Prices Fall To ₦3,000 Per Small Basket
Tomato lovers can also rejoice as prices have fallen dramatically due to seasonal factors. A small basket of fresh tomatoes now goes for as low as ₦3,000 in many local markets, a stark contrast to the months when prices hovered around ₦10,000 or more.
Pepper (Small Basket): ₦6,000
A kilo of Beef sells for ₦6,500, while a kilo of chicken sells for #6,000
