Liverpool have urged the public to respect the privacy of Diogo Jota's family and friends, as they mourn the sudden demise of the Portuguese footballer.

Premier League giants, Liverpool, have decided to pay the family of their late player, Diogo Jota, all his remaining wages as the world continue to mourn the Portuguese star.

Naija News had reported that Diogo Jota, 28, and his younger brother, Andrea Silva, 26, passed away on Thursday, July 3, in a ghastly car accident in Spain.

Naija News gathered that the footballer and his younger brother, who is a professional player, had the accident while travelling to a jetty to catch a ferry heading to the United Kingdom.

Jota could not make the trip by air. After his doctors allegedly advised him not to use the said means of transportation because he recently underwent a lung surgery.

Jota and his brother’s burial is currently underway in Gondomar, the siblings’ home town.

Liverpool’s officials, teammates, and coaching staff have travelled to Gondomar for his burial.

At Anfield, fans have gathered to build a living memorial, with scarves, shirts, letters, and flowers all in honour of the Portuguese football icon.

Due to his demise, Liverpool has postponed their pre-season resumption from Friday to next week as the football club continues to mourn one of their brightest stars.

Diogo Jota leaves behind a mother, a grandfather, a newlywed wife, and three children.
