Mfon Udoh: NPFL Record Holder Survives Car Accident

Former Super Eagles striker, Mfon Udoh, survived a car crash that left his vehicle badly damaged and him hospitalised on Thursday, July 3.
Mfon Udoh is currently receiving medical care and under close observation, according to sources close to the player quoted by the Punch.
While full details of the accident are still emerging, early reports confirmed that the striker’s car was “severely damaged,” with many calling his survival nothing short of a miracle.
Udoh’s career has been one marked by brilliance. He first shot to national fame during his time at the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Enyimba.
During his time at the Aba Elephants, he scored 23 goals in the 2013-2014 NPFL season, a record that still stands today as the highest in a single league campaign.
He also topped the scorers chart in the 2016 CAF Champions League with nine goals. He later joined Akwa United and then FC Tulsa in the United States.
The striker represented the Nigeria B team during the 2016 CHAN qualifiers and in international friendlies.
Although visibly shaken by the event, Mfon Udoh is reportedly stable as medical personnel continue to monitor his condition.
Udoh’s accident occurred in the same week that the football world was mourning the sudden demise of Portugal international Diogo Jota and his younger brother, Andrea Silva. Naija News reports that the two footballers died in a car crash in the early hours of Thursday, July 3.
