'It Feels Like Home' - Tosin Adarabioyo Visits Nigeria For The First Time, Speaks On Playing For Super Eagles

Chelsea centre-back, Tosin Adarabioyo, has offered a glimpse into his roots, naming pounded yam and okro soup as his favourite Nigerian delicacies.

Tosin Adarabioyo’s revelation comes as the defender continues to weigh up his international future.

The 27-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Fulham in 2024, has quickly become a mainstay in Enzo Maresca’s backline.

His solid performance in the Blues’ 2-0 victory over Fluminense in the Club World Cup semi-final at the MetLife Stadium only cemented his growing influence at Stamford Bridge.

But off the pitch, Adarabioyo appears equally grounded in his heritage.

In a brief moment caught on video and shared on 𝕏 after the semi-final win, the London-born defender was asked to name his favourite meal. With a smile, he responded: “Pounded yam and okro soup.”

It was a simple answer, but one that resonated with many football enthusiasts, especially Nigerians, who have followed Adarabioyo’s career with a keen eye amid ongoing speculation about his international allegiance.

Though born in England and having represented the Three Lions at various youth levels, U16 through U19, the Chelsea defender remains eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents.

His deepening public connection to Nigerian culture could be seen as a subtle signal that he is open to playing for the Super Eagles.

For now, Adarabioyo’s focus remains on Chelsea’s upcoming Club World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the other semi-final between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
