Turkey Raises Alarm Over New Terrorists Group, Fethullah In Nigeria

The Turkish government has warned that members of the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) are operating in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
Naija News reports that the warning was issued by Mehmet Poroy, Turkey’s incoming ambassador to Nigeria, during a dinner held in Abuja on Tuesday night.
The event was organised by the Turkish Embassy to mark Democracy and National Unity Day, in memory of the July 15, 2016 attempted military takeover in Türkiye.
Poroy blamed the Fetullah group for the 2016 failed coup attempt in Turkey.
He explained that the group known globally as the Gülen movement, is still active and being dismantled in various countries.
He said FETO remains dangerous and warned that its activities pose a threat to any country where it operates.
According to him, Nigeria is one of the countries where the group is still present, especially in education and health-related areas.
The Turkish government said FETO uses schools and humanitarian projects to quietly expand its influence and infiltrate national systems.
“They are still being captured and arrested today. The presence of such an organisation poses a threat to every country in which it operates.
“Unfortunately, the FETO terrorist organisation still maintains its activities in Nigeria, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare.
“We consistently inform our Nigerian friends about the nature and dangers of this organisation, and urge them to remain vigilant and cautious,” Poroy said.
