Iheanacho Returns To Sevilla Pre-Season Amid Doubts, Vieri Endorses Lookman’s Inter Milan Switch

Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho reported back to Sevilla for pre-season training this week, but his role in the squad remains uncertain following a disappointing debut campaign in Spain.
Iheanacho, 28, joined the Rojiblancos on a free transfer last summer. He failed to find the net in any of his nine La Liga appearances. His only goals came in the Copa del Rey, where he scored twice.
In January, the former Leicester City striker was shipped out on loan to Middlesbrough in England’s Championship, where he registered one goal and two assists across 15 matches.
Now under the guidance of new head coach Matias Almeyda at Sevilla, Iheanacho will be hoping for a clean slate. He still has two years left on his contract, but whether he features in Almeyda’s plans remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, Ademola Lookman is on the radar of Inter Milan, who are in negotiations with Atalanta over a potential €40 million transfer for the current African Footballer of the Year.
Christian Vieri, former Inter Milan striker and now pundit, is fully behind the club’s interest in Lookman.
“Lookman has the experience, it’s a different story: he’s someone who makes the difference, he changes matches. Someone like Lookman should always be signed, if possible,” Vieri said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Lookman gained global attention when he bagged a sensational hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen two seasons ago, a performance that sealed Atalanta’s first European title win.
Atalanta are reportedly holding out for a higher fee, but Lookman’s desire to join Inter may tip the scales in favour of a deal.
