England emerged as champions of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 on Sunday night after a dramatic final showdown against Spain.

England won the Euro 2025 title 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time at St. Jakobs-Park in Basel, Switzerland.

Despite Spain’s defeat, striker Esther González walked away with the Golden Boot, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with four goals.

Her clinical form throughout the competition made her a constant threat in front of goal and a standout performer for La Roja.

Spain had taken the lead in the final through Mariona Caldentey in the first half, but England hit back after the break with an equaliser from Alessia Russo, sending the match into extra time and eventually penalties.

England’s Hannah Hampton was the hero of the shootout, pulling off two crucial saves to help her side secure victory. Her heroics earned her double honours, Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament and Player of the Final.

Although Spain fell short in the final, they were not without big winners in the individual awards. Midfielder Aitana Bonmatí was named Player of the Tournament, while Arsenal and England’s rising star Michelle Agyemang claimed the Young Player of the Tournament title after an impressive breakout campaign.
