Guardiola Plans Summer Clear-Out As Six Manchester City Players Face Exit

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is preparing to trim his squad this summer, with at least six players expected to leave the Etihad Stadium.
According to Goal, the players on Guardiola’s exit list include first-choice goalkeeper Ederson, defender Nathan Ake, youngster Joshua Wilson-Esbrand, Argentine prospect Claudio Echeverri, midfielder Kalvin Phillips, and winger Savinho.
Despite opening their Premier League campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over Wolves, Guardiola admitted that his squad remains too large and in need of adjustments. “The squad is still bloated,” the City boss reportedly noted, signaling that departures are imminent.
Ederson, who has been a key figure in City’s recent domestic and European success, was left out of the squad for the Wolves clash. The Brazilian is currently in talks with Galatasaray, with a deal likely to be finalized before the close of the window.
Winger Savinho, who impressed on loan at Girona last season, was also dropped from the matchday squad amid strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs are pushing to secure his services as part of their summer rebuild.
Kalvin Phillips, who has struggled to establish himself since joining City from Leeds United in 2022, is expected to make a permanent exit following loan spells at Ipswich Town and West Ham.
Meanwhile, Ake, Wilson-Esbrand, and teenage midfielder Echeverri are also seen as expendable, with Guardiola prioritizing a leaner squad capable of sustaining another demanding season across multiple competitions.
