Wolves have strengthened their backline with the signing of Cameroon international Jackson Tchatchoua from Serie A side Hellas Verona in a deal worth €12.5m.

Jackson Tchatchoua, 23, has penned a five-year contract at Molineux, becoming the club’s fifth addition of the summer transfer window.

Tchatchoua, who is capable of playing as both a right-back and a wing-back, arrives with a growing reputation in Europe.

He was officially recognised as the fastest player in Serie A last season, clocking an average top speed of 34.88 km/h, with Wolves revealing that he hit an even higher mark of 36.3 km/h during the campaign.

Note that Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven holds the Premier League’s current speed record of 37.38 km/h.

Tchatchoua’s blistering pace is expected to add a new dynamic to Wolves’ defence and transition play.

Born in Belgium, the versatile defender came through the ranks at Charleroi before moving to Hellas Verona, initially on loan, in 2023. He made the switch permanent the following year and quickly established himself as a key figure, scoring twice and providing three assists in 37 appearances last season.

His arrival follows Wolves’ recent transfer activity which has seen them secure the permanent signing of forward Jorgen Strand Larsen for £23m after a successful loan spell, alongside deals for Fer Lopez (£19m), Jhon Arias (£15m), and defender David Moller Wolfe (£10m).
