The Olubadan-elect of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has promised members of the Olubadan-in-Council that his reign would be built on inclusivity and collective decision-making.

Naija News reports that Ladoja gave this assurance on Tuesday while hosting the council at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, marking their first meeting with him in over two months.

Appreciating the council for unanimously ratifying his candidacy as the next Olubadan, the former governor pledged to carry the chiefs along in the running of the traditional institution.

He said, “I want to promise you that as Olubadan, I will run a collective and all-inclusive administration that will take into consideration your opinions.”

According to him, their support was crucial in “taking Ibadan to the next level.”

Led by the Otun Balogun, Oba Kola Adegbola, members of the council congratulated Ladoja and assured him of their loyalty.

“The public expectation over you is very high, and we promised to continue to pray to God to give you unction to function,” the chiefs said.

The meeting, which lasted about two hours, also featured discussions on arrangements for the upcoming coronation. Members of the council pledged to serve in any capacity to ensure the ceremony’s success.

Ladoja disclosed that Governor Seyi Makinde, the Araba, and the Oluwo Afobaje would play critical roles in the coronation. He further assured that the council would be represented on the state coronation committee.

The session also observed a minute’s silence in honour of the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin. The proceedings concluded with a lunch shared by the Olubadan-elect and the chiefs.

Among those present were Obas Kola Adegbola, Olubunmi Isioye-Dada, Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Abiodun Azeez, Hamidu Ajibade, Akeem Adewoyin, and High Chief Sharafadeen Alli, who gave the vote of thanks.
