EPL: Newcastle Breaks Silence On Alexander Isak’s Outburst Amid Liverpool Transfer Saga

English Premier League (EPL) side, Newcastle United, has dismissed claims by striker Alexander Isak that the club reneged on promises regarding his future, insisting no agreement was ever made to let him leave this summer.
Naija News reports that the Swede had taken to Instagram on Tuesday night to voice his frustration, alleging that the Magpies broke their word amid Liverpool’s failed attempt to lure him to Anfield.
Isak stressed that trust has been lost due to the broken promises and hence his relationship with the club cannot continue.
“I’ve kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn’t reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors,” Alexander Isak wrote.
“The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue. That’s where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.”
We Are Disappointed – Club Response To Isak’s Claims
In a swift response via its official website, Newcastle said they were disappointed by the player’s post, stressing that Isak remains under contract and that the conditions of a sale had not been met.
The club said: “We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.
“We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views. As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired. We do not foresee those conditions being met.”
The club also sought to strike a conciliatory tone, assuring supporters that Isak remains central to their plans despite being frozen out of recent matches.
“This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feel. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates,” the statement added.
Liverpool Transfer Saga
Naija News reports that Liverpool have already had a big-money bid rejected for the Sweden international, who joined Newcastle in 2022 and quickly became one of Eddie Howe’s most influential attackers.
The 24-year-old has been left out of matchday squads amid the uncertainty, with speculation mounting that the standoff could define Newcastle’s final weeks of the transfer window.
