William Gallas Explains Why Eberechi Eze Chose Arsenal Over Tottenham

Former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur defender William Gallas has weighed in on Eberechi Eze’s decision to reject Spurs in favour of a high-profile move to Arsenal.

Eberechi Eze, who had been strongly linked with a switch from Crystal Palace to Arsenal, was widely reported to have agreed personal terms with Tottenham.

However, in a dramatic twist, the England international opted for Arsenal after the Gunners struck a £67.5 million deal with Palace on Wednesday night.

Eze is now expected to undergo his medical before being unveiled as Mikel Arteta’s latest signing.

Speaking to Gambling Zone, Gallas suggested that the midfielder’s choice was driven by ambition. “If you are Eze, you don’t want to go from Crystal Palace, where you were the main guy, to move to one of the biggest clubs if you are not going to play much,” Gallas explained.

He added: “You don’t want to join a club and become frustrated with your minutes. Eze will try to find the best solution for himself. Even if Spurs won the Europa League last year, you probably have more chances to win things at Arsenal over the next few years.”

The 26-year-old has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers in recent seasons, attracting attention from several top clubs.

His move to Arsenal is expected to bolster the Gunners’ attacking depth as Arteta continues his pursuit of silverware both domestically and in Europe.
