Simon Ekpa Still Facing Trial In Finland – Christopher Musa

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has confirmed that pro-Biafran agitator, Simon Ekpa, who was arrested in Finland in November 2024 for terrorism-related offences, is still being prosecuted by Finnish authorities.
Naija News reports that Musa disclosed this on Thursday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme. He noted that Ekpa’s arrest had contributed to a relative improvement in security across the South-East.
The defence chief explained that the military has stepped up operations to apprehend Ekpa’s associates across the five states of the region.
Musa said, “He (Ekpa) is still undergoing prosecution in Finland. So, we are hopeful. When we talked about him, people thought we were making noise, but since he has been arrested, the Southeast is getting better.
“We are going to go after the likes of him, wherever they are, and whatever it takes until we bring them down.”
According to the CDS, troops are actively targeting Ekpa’s lieutenants in Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi and Abia states.
Musa further stated, “That’s why the Ansaru leaders’ arrest is a good win for all of us. There are other ones we don’t talk about, we will also look at them and pull them out.”
General Musa also described the recent capture of Ansaru terrorist commanders as one of the most important achievements of the military in recent months.
He credited the breakthrough to detailed planning and synergy among the Army, Navy and Air Force.
“What has changed is that we have synergy with all the organisations… and that is why we have seen all the successes,” he explained.
The CDS further revealed that Nigeria would host an African Chiefs of Defence Staff conference starting Monday, aimed at strengthening continental security cooperation.
He stressed that the fight against terrorism and insurgency requires cross-border collaboration to achieve sustainable results.
