BIOGRAPHY
Trained as an actor at the Actors Studio in Vancouver, Barry Pepper made his debut in the TV films A Killer Among Friends (1992), Johnny’s Girl (1995) and Titanic (1996) before making his mark in the cinema in the Swiss-Canadian family comedy Urban safari (id.) and the action film Firestorm (1998).
His first major role was that of sniper Daniel Jackson in Steven Spielberg ‘s Saving Private Ryan . Detective in Enemy of the State (1999), prison guard in The Green Line (2000), young and heroic hunter in Battleground Earth (id.), his rough-hewn face and emaciated physique become familiar to the great audience. Nominated for the Emmy Awards and the Golden Globes in 2002 for his performance in the TV movie 61* , Barry Pepper appears, like Vin Diesel and Seth Green , among The Henchmen of the screenwriting duo Koppelman / Levien . He plays supporting roles in war films alongside Mel Gibson in We Were Soldiers by Randall Wallace (2001), as well as in The 25th Hour (2003) by Spike Lee , where he opposite Edward Norton . He finally got noticed by Tommy Lee Jones who invited him in 2004 to undertake the initiatory journey with him in Three Funerals , and in 2006, under the direction of Clint Eastwood , in the film Memories of Our Fathers . We then find him in the film Unknown by Simon Brand , then alongside Will Smith in Seven Lives in 2009. After the drama Princess Kaiulani , he plays a man who leaves prison and who seeks to get his son back in Like Dandelion Dust at the alongside Mira Sorvino . In 2011, he was part of the prestigious cast ( Jeff Bridges , Matt Damon and Josh Brolin ) of the Coen Brothers ‘ western True Grit .
