James Anthony Willems was born on April 6, 1984, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, where he also grew up. His parents are Ricardo Guy Willems and Catherine Willems. However, it is unknown if he has a brother or sister.

He attended South Mecklenburg High School where he graduated in 2002. James then went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studied Media Production, Film and Television. He graduated in 2006.

James Willems has been described as dashing and bold, brave and caring, loyal and friendly, and never wanting to tell a tale. He is a brave man who is not inhibited by circumstances or situations but exploits whatever is beneficial to him. Although he has very obvious negative opinions and feelings about many things in life, he seems to express these feelings by constantly making fun of himself, using jokes as a tool.

Career

He started his career as a producer and gradually explored and imbibed other areas. James was an associate producer on the television series, The Show Attack! from 2008 to 2009 and worked on a total of 263 episodes.

He has also produced events for the G4 network with Adam Kovic and Bruce Greene. Among the works he has produced include the television series Comic-Con ’08 and Comic-Con ’09 Live as an associate producer and producer of EVS. In 2009, he was associate producer of another TV movie, E3 ’09 Live, before his departure.

Three years later, persuaded by Adam and Bruce, James Willems joined Machinima Inc., an affiliate of Inside Gaming. He became a full-fledged employee and worked behind the scenes as an editor, writer, and recurring side-host. Gaining more traction in the company, he became the first person to be featured in a video with longtime colleagues Bruce and Adam without even serving as an intern. He later became a co-host, content producer, and co-star, playing the lead role himself in the television series. Inside Animated Games and Animated Spooky Text Theater

In January 2015, James left Machinima along with his colleagues, Joel Rubin, Matt Peake, Lawrence Sonntag, Sean “Spoole” Poole and, of course, Adam and Bruce. They left to form an independent network. Shortly after their departure, the group established a partnership, ownership and developed an acquisition by Rooster Teeth (RT).

At RT, James became a staff member at Funhaus, a subsidiary of Rooster Teeth Productions. He has worked as a co-host, content producer, co-star, actor, voice actor and also an occasional columnist. He has made appearances on various RT shows as well as the Achievement Hunter shows.

James is married to Canadian and fellow Funhaus MP, Elyse Willems. The pair met via an online chat room in the early 2000s, but later reconnected via Facebook. Their love and beautiful marriage has been defined by fans and co-workers as a relationship goal. They reside in Los Angeles.
