The film icon was born on October 5, 1975, in Reading, England, and fell in love with acting as a child. Kate’s primary school was St Mary and All Saints Anglican Church, where she was an active member of the theater unit. At age five, she starred in her first play as Mary, Mother of Jesus. At the age of 11 she was admitted to Redroofs Theater School and at the age of 12 she made her first television appearance in an advertisement for a cereal company called Sugar Puff. Young Kate started acting in many school dramas after the success of commercials and in 1992 she landed a minor role in film. Anglo-Saxon attitudes, in which she was presented as the child of an overweight woman, as she herself was obese. Between 1992 and 1993, she was on the series Come Back as the daughter of a man facing a financial crisis in his middle age and she made a guest appearance on the medical sitcom Victim in 1993.

The actress had her official breakthrough in the 1994 film titled Heavenly Creatures directed by Peter Jackson in which she played Juliet Hulme, a teenage girl who helped her friend commit murder. The following year, she landed the role of Marianne Dashwood in Emma Thompson. Sense and Sensibility which turned out to be a huge hit as she won Best Actress in a Film from the Screen Actors Guild and the British Academy Film Award. He was also nominated for best actress in an Oscar and in the Golden Globe.

In 1996, she acted mainly in dramas like Jude and Willian Shakespeare’s tragic drama. Hamlet but weren’t as highly ranked at the box office. However, her impressive performance landed her a major role in the 1997 romantic epic Titanic in which she played the role of Rose. Titanic was not only the most expensive film made at that time, but it also grossed billions of dollars and was a blockbuster film worldwide, winning 11 Oscars.

The prolific actress has been in countless blockbusters since her stardom exploded in 1997. However, life sometimes has its downsides and she experienced some film disappointments in the 2013 Labor Day film which received negative review from most film critics. Her role as Jeanine Matthews in the 2014 film Divergent was not considered to bring out the talented actress that she is in sci-fi. Similarly, the romantic film The Mountain Between Us Idris Elba was also considered a disaster.
