Bio of Megan Mullally

Megan Mullally was born in Los Angeles, California on November 12, 1958, to Carter Mullally Jr. and Martha Mullally. She has a mix of Scandinavian, Irish and English ancestry. When she was six, her family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she studied ballet and performed at the Oklahoma City Ballet. As a teenager, she was enrolled at the Casady school. After graduating, she studied Art History and English Literature at Northwestern University located in Evanston, Illinois.

Career

After finishing college, Megan Mullally decided to move to Los Angeles in 1985. Luckily for her, the William Morris Agency signed her just two weeks after she arrived in Los Angeles. His first chance to appear on screen was in a McDonald’s commercial which also starred John Goodman. The following year, in 1986, she debuted on her very first series, The Ellen Burstyn Show. She went on to guest star on a good number of sitcoms including; Just Shoot Me!, Ailes, Ned and Stacey, SeinfeldFrasierMad About You, and Caroline in the City.

Megan auditioned for the role of Karen Walker for the NBC sitcom, Will & Grace in 1998 and did the cast. In the series, she played Grace Adler’s sarcastic assistant, tasked with taking pills. For her role in Will & Grace, Megan won Primetime Emmy Awards in 2000 and 2006 for Leading Role in a Comedy Series. The year 2011 saw Mullally starring as a recurring cast member in the sitcom Happy Endings where she played the character of Dana Hartz. The following year, she joined the cast of the series called Effraction while in 2016, she was added to the cast of the film, Why him?
