Once upon a time, it was seen as something of a taboo for a man or even a boy to be seen near the kitchen or to offer to help without talking about actual cooking. Like so many other unnecessary stereotypes, this one is slowly dying out thanks to men who love food and its preparation and who have risen up to do it. Lately we have so many guys owning the kitchen and even making tons of money from it. Of course, we can’t talk about male chefs and leave out Nick Stellino – the man is a widely acclaimed chef and a ‘walking Italian cookbook’.

Nick Stellino’s Biography

Nick Stellino was raised in Palermo Sicily, the same Italian city where he was born on May 1, 1958. Growing up there was so much great music, lots of food, love and family around him, but he had need something more. He wanted to travel to America, the land of football. Around 1975, he finally realized this dream by traveling to Eureka, USA, to study there.

He started a career as a stockbroker and he might be tempted to say that life was now a nest of roses for Nick, but it wasn’t. He faced many challenges, but determined, he managed to break through to become a stockbroker more than 10 years later.

Despite this success, his childhood love for cooking came calling and Nick had no choice but to say goodbye to his stock market career. The loss of a beloved uncle and the need to rehabilitate a broken knee he suffered during a football game were the two game changers for him. With his knowledge of food, he sought a job as a chef but always showed the door to a position as he had no formal experience. He decided to become a dishwasher. at least that puts it in the kitchen next to the actual kitchen.

Nick rose steadily and patiently by being an apprentice to very good chefs like Celestino Drago and he soon began to prepare a cooking show. Her goal was to reach more people with her love for Italian cuisine and soon her audience. He started the Cucina Amore series which later had a second and third sequel. To date, Nick has hosted several cooking shows, including Nick Stellino’s Home Cooking (4 series) and Nick Stellino: Food, Love and Family

Interestingly, Nick has also successfully converted his knowledge from before and on these shows into several cookbooks. These cookbooks include Cucina Amore, Home Cooking by Nick Stellino, Mangiomo! Let’s eat! And dine in. All of her cookbooks have been hugely successful and well accepted.

Nick is also a motivational speaker and has appeared on several shows as a guest star. Its acceptance also comes from national publications such as Home Magazine, The New York Times and Bon Appetit. Of course, it enjoys special recognition at festivals and other gastronomic events. He is well-liked and admired for his comedic ease, creativity and hard work.

The successful chef also has several notable appearances and accomplishments to his name. These include the first leader to become Grand Marshal of the Columbus Day Parade in San Francisco (in 1999). In 2008, he was an acclaimed chef at the Festa Italiana in Milwaukee. He is also a motivational speaker for the Leadership Speakers Bureau.

Wife, children and family

Nick Stellino is married to Nanci Stellino. She is a beautiful woman who was born in 1954. Nanci is a photography enthusiast and shares her world of photography with the world on a website named Stellino Photography. Nick and Nanci met in 1981 when he had just finished a photography course. Their interest in images brought them together. They have lived happily for more than 30 years. The couple reside in Los Angeles, California.

The Stellinos have no children together. They live a happy life with two beautiful cats, Luigi and Luca.

Nick was born to Vincenzo Stellino, his father, and Massimiliano Boccato, his mother. He gained his love for cooking from his family in Sicily. His family was so wrapped in love that his food spilled over there. Members including Josh and Andrew, two of his nephews, have been on his family’s cooking shows. Interestingly, his father didn’t accept his career change with open arms, but then gave him his blessings, supposedly, after a special meal from his wife.
